"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified."

-1 Cor 9:24-27

Crazy week ahead.. crazy months ahead.
But God let me cling onto You even more fiercely than ever.

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Been experiencing what its like to hold on to His promises so tightly,
and also thinking about what Ps Tina talked about one cell session- what "the joy set before me" is that I can fix my eyes on like Jesus did.

And also been so challenged w.r.t ministry and re-discovering the value of teamwork and partnership.

But also had painful experiences..
Really made me wonder where I went wrong/if I'd even loved at all.
But when the mountains loom larger, all we can do is pray harder...

Am thankful that at the end of every day and in the midst of every season God remains.
And its not contingent on what I do/don't do.

Chinese new year was quieter this time round,
but my (paternal) grandmother's grandfather's brother's daughter in law (from Hainan) came and is staying with my grandparents for 3 weeks.
It really really amazes me what family means to them- that no matter how distant, familial ties don't change.
Made me think about how ironic it is sometimes when we fail to keep close the ones closest to us, while they find some way to establish a family tie with someone so far away.

But my prayer is that conviction will spur action.

A couple of days ago I decided that I'd need an immense amount of focus on the few things that matter this year.

But today I realized that an undivided heart means I want to focus on the only One who matters.

I've been asking God so many things I never took the time to stop and listen,
to wait on Him and enjoy His presence,
when I think approaching Him like a child would mean coming with full expectation of just enjoying being with Him.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus/ Turn my eyes upon You Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face/ Let me look full in Your wonderful face
And the things of the earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace/ In the light of Your glory and grace

God let this be my anthem for the year.

Its 10.20pm and I'm tired. Had a really long but extremely nice day. :)

Tonight I'm so thankful for people who challenge and inspire me with their love and passion for God.
Thankful for people who sharpen as iron sharpens iron, who gently rebuke; people who care enough to be present even when I fail to be, and people who love so selflessly.
Thankful for community, and thankful for people who teach me, who encourage; thankful for people who hide God's Word in their hearts so that whenever I falter they point me back to the Truth.
Thankful for people whose lives allow me to catch glimpses of who God is, thankful for people whose support is not conditional.

Thankful that I don't run this race alone, and yet am completely convicted that
though none go with me, still I will follow.

(As I was typing that at least 10 faces flashed through my mind)
God, thank You.

"Can a mother forget the baby at her breast

and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
See, I have written you on the palms of my hands;"

-

"Now faith is a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

-

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, not height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

So painful, but God let me learn to hold on to Your truth.

There is a faith proved of more worth than gold, so refine me Lord through the flame.
